The Mairykhsky Open Pit Mine Paid Record Amount of Taxes

In 2021, the Mairykhsky Open Pit Mine paid a record amount of taxes to all budget levels.

The total sum amounted to 2 billion 268 million roubles. This result was more than 1.5 times higher than the result of a successful 2018 for the coal industry. Then the company had paid a total of 1 billion 390 million roubles in taxes.

The increase in the amount of taxes was due to the favorable price climate in the global fuel market, as well as the increase in the production of the mine — in 2021 it amounted to 4.8 million tons.

Corporate income tax was the most significant. It amounted to 1 billion 625 million roubles. This is 386 million more than in the same year 2018. The actual amount of income tax exceeded the forecast made by the company for the first half of 2021 by more than 600 million.

Most of the income taxes remain in the region. Thus, the Republic of Khakassia received 1 billion 348 million roubles of taxes from the Mairykhsky open pit mine. The mineral tax amounted to 70 million 760 thousand. Of these, 28 million 300 thousand were transferred to the federal budget, 42 million 460 thousand roubles were transferred to the regional budget.

Personal income tax, which totally remains in the region, in 2021 amounted to 125 million 790 thousand roubles. This is 23.5 million more than in 2020. The positive dynamics is associated with an increase in the company headcount and an increase in salaries.

In 2021, the Mairykhsky open pit mine hired 113 new employees. The actual headcount was 1,068 people, and the total annual salary of the company's employees exceeded 1 billion roubles. This amount can be considered an economic bonus for Khakassia. The personnel policy of the company excludes rotation jobs and assumes local hiring. Therefore, the salary of 1 billion roubles, which the employees spent in the region, can also be considered a contribution to the development of the economy of Khakassia.

Tax payments to the budgets of the areas of the company's presence have also increased. In 2021, the Altai district received 193.3 million roubles from the Mairykhsky open pit mine. A comparison of the indicators of previous years — 155.2 million in 2020 and 135.9 million in 2019 — shows consistent positive trends. Tax payments to the budget of the Beysky district, where the company transfers taxes from 2018, are also steadily growing: 1.72 million in 2018, 2.9 million in 2019, 8.6 million in 2020, and 11.4 million in 2021. These amounts will multiple when the Beysky-Zapadny mine starts working at full capacity. In addition to taxes, in 2021, the Mairykhsky open pit mine transfered 5.4 million to the Altai district and 6 million to the Beysky district under the agreements on social and economic cooperation. This money is for the improvement of settlements and the solution of urgent housing and communal services issues.
